Château Mouton Rothschild 2006, 1er Grand Cu Classé, Pauillac, France
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most famous names in the world of wine. It was the first Chateaux associated with the Rothschild name when Baron Nathaniel purchased Chateau Brane-Mouton and renamed it accordingly. Since then it is regarded as one of the best wineries in the world, claiming 1er Cru Classé status in Bordeaux in 1973.
Today, Château Mouton is managed by Baroness Philippine’s three children, Phillippe Sereys de Rothschild, Julien de Rothschild and Camille de Rothschild; and space 90 hectares benefiting from soil ideal for the production of good fruit. The gravel over clay soil enable wines of rich tannins, elegance and power. The climate and soils are perfect for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot with the average age of the vines at 44 years old. To this day all harvests and sorting is done by hand.
This highly acclaimed, powerful Pauillac is the perfect embodiment of Mouton's classic style. Known for its aging potential, this vintage offers deep, dark fruit, graphite, and cedar notes with a very firm, tannic structure.
