Waddesdon Rothschild Collection Cabernet Sauvignon, IGP Pays d'Oc, France

Regular price £13.50

This range of varietal wines, selected by our team at Waddesdon, represents the finest quality ‘house wines’ we have ever released. This collection of wines offers an impressive level of purity, definition and varietal expression that is rarely associated with this category and price point. After a series of blind tastings our Rothschild Waddesdon range performed exceptionally, and we are incredibly proud to call these wines our own. We hope you have as much fun tasting them as we did selecting them.

Sourced from southern facing vineyards on the edge of Montpellier, with vines approaching 45 years of age. Old vines are not usually the source of fruit for wines that accommodate the sub of £15 bracket;  another wonderful trait this new collection of wines has to offer. A small proportion of the wine (10%) is aged in French oak. This helps to provide the Cabernet fruit with spice and texture. There’s an attractive almost developed nose, with notes of toasted bread, cassis, bilberry, cloves and smoke. Richly textured and weighty, yet poised and supple. A really fabulous Cabernet that punches well above it’s weight!
