Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, located near Filey Bay, was created from a desire to utilise the best water and barley that Yorkshire had to offer. Using their own barley fields, Spirit of Yorkshire distillery pride themselves on their field to bottle approach, ensuring they have full control of their whisky, as well as a much more modest carbon footprint than most. STR stands for "Shaved, Toasted & Re-charred" and refers to the approach for the ex-red wine casks.
Shaved, Toasted and Re-charred ex-Red Wine casks bring a balanced and nuanced maturation, creating the perfect environment for the light and creamy whisky to draw out the delicious red fruit flavours from the wood. Alongside the red fruit, there are notes of biscuit, honey and confectionary.
