Chateau Lafleur Du Roy 2016, A.C. Pomerol, France

Regular price £38.00

The Dubost family created their vineyard in the heart of Pomerol in 1957,
one of the smallest appellations in Bordeaux. Their in-depth knowledge
of the terroir and wines of Pomerol is impressive. They called their Château
Lafleur Du Roy because of their love of flowers. In fact, a different watercolour
of flowers by a Belgian friend is featured on the label of every vintage. The
château is now owned and managed by Yvon and Pâquerette’s son, Laurent.

Enticing and layered. Initially bright aromas of ripe black cherry and cassis evolve to reveal plum, blackcurrant jelly and subtle red rose petals. Underneath, hints of truffle, warm earth and graphite add complexity, framed by fine cedar spice and a whisper of vanilla from judicious oak. The mid-palate shows lovely balance between sweetness of fruit and savoury notes of mineral, cocoa and a touch of leather. Fresh acidity lifts the richness, giving energy and forward movement.
