Loxwood Meadworks Glow, Mulled Honey Wine, Sussex, England

Regular price £24.50

Founder, Danny Bacon, was selling mead for The Loxwood Joust (a medieval festival he runs). Seeing how much people loved it, he thought “Why does no one drink mead anymore? Surely we can bring it back, but in a modern way”… and therefore created Loxwood Meadworks. Each wine is made using 100% local honey in the ferment (the process that makes the alcohol). It’s fermented dry, and then back-sweetened with honey, to give the most natural flavour and a delicate sweetness. Whilst exhibiting at Glow illumination festival at RHS Wisley they were questioned about any availability of a mulled version of their English Honey Wine. They rose to the challenge by adding spices to an urn containing the honey wine, it was an instant hit.

Deep gold in the glass with flavours and aromas of pronounced honeyed ginger, vanilla and cinnamon. Delicately sweet, with zesty flavours to complement creamy body. Serve either chilled in a wine glass or gently warmed in a mug. Garnish with lemon peel, cinnamon stick and a grating of fresh nutmeg for the perfect winter warmer.
