Maison Roche de Bellene Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2022, A.C. Bourgogne, France

Regular price £28.00

The city of Beaune, once called Bellene until the middle ages, is renowned for its Burgundian wines. Nicholas Potel personally chose this brand name in reference to this city, historically linked with wine and famous for its diversity of terroirs. It was founded in 2008 after establishing Domaine de Bellene. Potel has travelled the world in pursuit of learning as many techniques and skills as possible, so that he could, one day, apply them on his home turf. For this Bourgogne Blanc, the focus has been on trying to keep as much of the freshness from the Chardonnay as possible, allowing for a wine of impeccable balance.

The Chardonnay fruit is the star of the show here. Quince, pineapple and hints of baked apple and lemon peel. There is oak here, but well judged and perfectly integrated with the rest of the fruit. This is a stunning expression that manages to retain that classic Burgundian style.
