Anseillan 2015 Magnum, A.C. Pauillac, France

Regular price £145.00

Anseillan is a unique and relatively new wine from the team at Château Lafite Rothschild, crafted from the village of the same name in the Haut-Médoc, just beyond the borders of Pauillac. Originally used as a training ground for the Lafite winemaking team, Anseillan has evolved into a distinct expression in its own right—showcasing the precision and pedigree associated with one of Bordeaux’s most esteemed names, but with a more accessible and modern character. The 2015 vintage marked a standout moment for Anseillan. Benefiting from a warm, balanced growing season, the wine delivers impressive depth and structure, with ripe dark fruit, refined tannins, and the classic Left Bank minerality. It embodies the elegance and harmony of the vintage, with the finesse and discipline expected from the Lafite stable, offering exceptional value and early approachability without compromising on age-worthiness.

Anseillan blends predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in a wine that is rich, structured, and approachable. A richly expressive and polished wine from Pauillac, Anseillan 2015 reveals layers of dark cherry, cassis, and blackberry, interwoven with notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, and subtle graphite. The palate is medium to full-bodied with ripe, velvety tannins and well-integrated oak, offering balance and finesse. A touch of savoury earth and dried herbs adds complexity on the long, elegant finish. A poised and characterful Left Bank red drinking beautifully now, yet still capable of further development in the magnum.
