Regular price £45.00

Château Citran, located in the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux, France, is one of the region’s oldest estates, with origins dating back to the 13th century. Initially owned by the Donissan family until 1832, the estate underwent several ownership changes before being acquired by the Merlaut family in 1996. The Merlaut family has since undertaken significant efforts to modernize the estate while preserving its rich history. The château itself was reconstructed between 1861 and 1864 on the site of the original medieval fortress, and it is now recognized as a historical monument. The estate spans approximately 100 hectares of vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Château Citran is committed to sustainable agriculture, employing techniques such as mechanical soil management, cover cropping, and organic farming practices on a portion of their vineyards.

Château Citran’s 2005 Haut-Médoc is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from an exceptional Bordeaux vintage. The wine presents a deep, saturated color and a bouquet of ripe cassis and dark cherry, complemented by hints of vanilla and cedar. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance of plush plum and blackcurrant flavors, supported by soft tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and elegant, showcasing the wine’s class and aging potential.
