Château d'Armailhac 1999, 15eme Grand Cru Classé, Pauillac, France

Regular price £135.00

Chateau d'Armailhac is a 5th Growth estate which was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1933 (the same year his daughter, Baroness Philippine, was born). Alongside Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Clerc Milon, Chateau d'Armailhac is one of the three Pauillac estates belonging to the Mouton branch of the family. Located next to the Mouton estate, this Pauillac estate covers 76 hectares of gravel-clay soil planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

This mature, elegant Pauillac has a complex bouquet of dried fruit, cedar, tobacco leaf, and liquorice. The palate offers a medium-body with well-integrated tannins and a silky texture. Notes of ripe fruit (blackberries, currants) balance with savoury flavours of coffee, spice and liquorice.
