Château d'Aussières 2019, A.C Corbières, France

Regular price £40.00

Acquired in 1999 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)the 550 hectare estate has witnessed a vast rehabilitation project. To date, 167 hectares of vines have been replanted with carefully selected traditional Languedoc grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan, complemented by Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay. The consistency and remarkable potential of the wines produced since 2003 have already positioned Aussières as one of the front runners in the revival of the Languedoc.

The 2019 vintage has a ruby color and a nose with a complex aromatic bouquet. There are scents of ripe fruit, red fruit compote and subtle notes of sweet spices, garrigue, pepper and fresh vegetal. On the palate, the tannins are extremely elegant and the aromatic freshness is expressed with great purity. There are juicy fruit notes of raspberry and blackberry, as well as gourmet notes such as beggar's wort with roasted almonds. Scents of garrigue underline the palate of this wine. The saline finish lingers on mentholated notes.
