Château Mouton Rothschild 2000, 1er Grand Cru Classé, Pauillac, France

Regular price £2,995.00

Chateau Mouton Rothschild is one of the most famous names in the world of wine. It was the first Chateaux associated with the Rothschild name when Baron Nathaniel purchased Chateau Brane-Mouton and renamed it accordingly. Since then it is regarded as one of the best wineries in the world, claiming 1er Cru Classé status in Bordeaux in 1973.

Today, Château Mouton is managed by Baroness Philippine’s three children, Phillippe Sereys de Rothschild, Julien de Rothschild and Camille de Rothschild; and space 90 hectares benefiting from soil ideal for the production of good fruit. The gravel over clay soil enable wines of rich tannins, elegance and power. The climate and soils are perfect for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot with the average age of the vines at 44 years old. To this day all harvests and sorting is done by hand.

This legendary Pauillac is knownend for its intense, full-bodied profile and iconic gold "Augsburg Ram" bottle. An exceptionally hot summer produced concentrated fruit with notes of blackcurrant, cedar, liquorice, crème de cassis, coffee, and mineral. This is a powerful, complex, highly collectable vintage.
