Château Rieussec 2007, 1er Grand Cru Classé, Sauternes, France

Regular price £69.95

In 1984, Eric de Rothschild representing Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR) acquired Chateau Rieussec.  At the time of the purchase the estate covered 110 ha, with 68ha under vine. DBR decided that a different approach must be adopted if this legendary property was to return to its glory days. Laborious and painstaking work was carried out in the vineyard including replanting and grubbing up of less than perfect vines.  A new cellar was built in 1989 with a view to ensuring wines were matured more efficiently prior to release. The property now ranks among the very best in Sauternes and sits proudly in the Rothschild portfolio.

Delicate, with scents of wild flowers. There are also notes of candied citrus fruit and melon. It is a rich and unctuous wine.
