Domaine Barons de Rothschild Reserve Speciale Pauillac 2021, A.C. Pauillac, France

Regular price £45.00

This Pauillac is produced by Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) using grapes collected from younger vines at Château Duhart Milon and Chateau Lafite Rothschild itself. This accessible Pauillac will drink well from a young age and offers charm and character after an hour in a decanter. This is without doubt a modern classic, it’s precise, refined and concentrated style ranks as the finest from the region.

DBR Lafite have produced a rich yet precise Pauillac, similar in style to the 1990 vintage. Lafite rarely does exuberance, true to form the aroma needs coaxing from the glass. After a few minutes there’s cool blackberry coulis, warm slate, fresh tobacco, cedar, violets and graphite. The palate is compact and concentrated with fine tannins. You can feel the quality, but it is slightly reserved in the mid-palate. Whilst it offers very enjoyable drinking you can’t help feel its best days lay ahead. It is very ‘Lafite’ in style and typical of the vintage.
