Flechas de Los Andes Gran Corte Malbec 2019, Mendoza, Argentina

Regular price £45.00

The Flechas de Los Andes estate was set up as a collaboration between Baron Edmond de Rothschild and Laurent Dassault in 1999. Since then they have been utilising their many years of expertise along with the amazing terroir at the foot of the Andes to create world class Malbec based blends. The Gran Corte, meaning “great blend”, is the top wine from the estate and is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Syrah and is aged in new French oak for 18 months. The Gran Corte 2017 is a truly stunning wine. The depth, intensity and mouth feel are tremendous.

Inky purple hues with hints of garnet. The incredible intensity on the nose boasts notes of rich blueberry juice, coffee, beef stock, blackcurrant, vanilla, cocoa and spice. The palate is full bodied, with deliciously fine tannins and exceptional length on the finish. This is a big, powerful yet refined wine; one of our favourites’ here at Waddesdon. The palate feels compact and the wine has such confidence. After a few hours in a decanter this vintage feels so complete. It has energy, balance, richness, texture, weight and complexity – all in equal measure.  Take a bow the team at Flechas de Los Andes – this is epic stuff.
