Celler Alimara is a family-owned winery based in the Terra Alta region of Catalonia, Spain. Founded by British couple Andy & Ali McLeod, the project was born out of a deep passion for wine, sustainability, and the unique terroir of southern Catalonia. The name “Alimara” means “beacon” or “signal fire” in Catalan—symbolising their mission to shine a light on the region’s potential and craft wines that speak clearly of place and purpose. Celler Alimara focuses on producing expressive, small-batch wines that reflect the local landscape, combining traditional Catalan grape varieties like Garnatxa (Grenache), Carinyena (Carignan), and Garnatxa Peluda with modern winemaking techniques. Pinzellada means “Brush Stroke” in Catalan, and each release is a unique blend which paints a picture of the year. The 2018 “GN” is 100% Grenache with 21 months in oak.

This wine is crafted from Garnacha grapes, resulting in a rich and intense profile. It typically exhibits flavors of pepper, spice, raspberry, cherry, plum, and leather. With an alcohol content of 14.5%, it pairs well with hearty dishes such as beef and venison.
